Around Gotham: The Final Act: The Met’s Summer HD Festival is Coming to a Close

Summer is officially winding down, but we are going out with a grand finale.

The Metropolitan Opera’s 17th Summer HD Festival is back for its final stretch from September 2–7, 2026. This is your absolute last chance to experience the magic of the opera under the stars before the season ends.

For six nights only, Josie Robertson Plaza will transform into an outdoor cinema. The Met is setting up 2,500 free seats each night for five thrilling performances. No tickets. No reservations. Just incredible music under the New York sky.

Know Before You Go

• First-Come, First-Served: Seating is general admission. Lines form early.

• Plaza Clearance: Security clears the plaza two hours before each show.

• Entry Time: Gates reopen one hour before showtime.

• Accessibility: All screenings feature full open captions.

• Weather Policy: Shows go on in the rain. Lightning or high winds will cause cancellations. Check the Met website for live updates.
